Recent 18 Wheeler Accidents
A bike rider was struck and killed Monday night as he was riding across a Bryan highway. According to Bryan Police, Willie George Williams Jr., 52, was crossing East Highway 21 near Gooseneck just before 9 p.m. when he was hit by an 18-wheeler. BPD officials say the man was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Regional Health Center after being worked on by first responders on the way to the hospital. An autopsy has been ordered and the investigation into the accident continues.
Shreveport, Louisiana 18-Wheeler Fatality:
The man who was airlifted to LSU Hospital this morning following a head-on collision in West Shreveport has died. The accident happened about 7:20 a.m. when the 21-year-old driver of a Ford Ranger crossed the center line on Shirley Frances Road near the parish line and collided with an 18-wheeler. The driver of the pickup, who was the lone occupant, received injuries police describe as life-threatening. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. He told police he had just pulled out into the roadway and straightened his vehicle out in the eastbound lane of Shirley Francis when he noticed the Ford crossing into his lane. The 18-wheeler came to a complete stop prior to the collision. Police are investigating whether the victim had a medical condition.
