Rollover Reports
Two Bell County men died in a one-car rollover accident in Killeen early Sunday morning. John Dennis Miller, 38, of Harker Heights and Mark Vincent Kight, 27, of Killeen were both ejected from their car and were pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old female survived the crash and was airlifted to Scott and White in Temple where she is listed in good condition.
An accident south of Taylor Springs claimed the lives of two young men from Hillsboro at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The driver, Kyle L. Meyer, 21, and a passenger, Adam E. Matthews, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene by Montgomery County Coroner Rick Broaddus’ office. Meyer was driving a 1996 Chevy S-10 pickup truck north on Miller Branch Trail when the vehicle left the roadway, traveled over 200 feet through the ditch, overturned, and came to rest on its top.
According to information received from the Port Lavaca DPS office, Charles William Steward II, 27, of North Charleston, died in the single-vehicle rollover. He was southbound on the highway in a 2001 Lincoln Navigator, drove off the right side of the highway, overcorrected, and flipped several times. The SUV came to rest upside down in a bar ditch next to a culvert on the left side of the highway. Steward was ejected from the vehicle and suffered massive head injuries. He was transported to an area hospital via HALO-Flight.
