The American Association for Justice is encouraging, again, NHTSA to prioritize increasing roof crush safety standards. From the above linked press release:
As the Obama administration named Charles Hurley the new administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the American Association for Justice (AAJ) asked that that the agency put the roof crush standard first on their to-do list, and demanded that it work to ensure consumer access to the courts when auto injury occurs.

Increasing roof crush safety standards has the potential of saving many lives. The article linked above provides more detail on the Bush Administration’s plan. AAJ appears to be encouraging the Obama Administration to increase roof crush safety even more than the Bush Adminstration proposed.
